2017 Goals review

Hey!

2017 is nearly over, I know it’s insane! This year I’m so grateful for all my adventures, my family, friends and all the new people I met along the way. Grateful for all the new experiences I’ve had and for mine and my family/friends health!

With 2018 around the corner, It’s time to review those 2017 goals and make new ones too. So let’s get on with it …

My Goals for 2017

🌎 Travel more, I want to continue my travels in Australia and see more of the world.- 2017 was all about travelling. We went to Australia for the year and travelled from Cairns to Melbourne. We camped, drove a ute (pick up truck), I scuba dived for the first time in the Great barrier reef, We went to the beach on Christmas, Climbed the Sydney bridge, went to the highest point in Melbourne and so much more. We went to New Zealand which was a bit like the UK but it was great fun, we climbed mountains, went on boat trips, went to Hobbiton and much more. We also spent 2 days in Hong Kong and we went to Lantau Island on one of the longest cable cars and went on the peak tram which was very steep. We also went to Spain for a family holiday which was the greatest way to end 2017 travels!

Be minimalist – Being a minimalist started off well, I got rid of things I didn’t need. When we got back from Australia we literally spent over a week sorting out our room and making it clearer and brighter, that was a success! I still have way too much ‘things’ but that is a work in progress.

Buy experiences over material things – I think I did quite well with this goal. It comes in the same category as being more minimal. When you’re travelling you can’t afford much so all the money we earned we had to save up to experience, yes of course we bought clothes and food out etc.. but we had more self-control over our money because we had to. We stuck to this rule, buy something new sell something old!

📘 Learn a new Language/Improve in French – This goal didn’t go too well, oopps! I downloaded loads of apps and started with French but I found it quite boring. So I then decided to start learning Italian and again I used the same apps but I found most of the apps would go too slow or too quick, I also lost motivation. I always find it hard to keep motivated when you’re learning on your own. Maybe for the new year I should find a study buddy or I could make good use of  Cristian (mum boyfriend) and practice Italian with him. 

🙆 Learn Yoga – At first I struggled to get myself motivated and I was quite weak so that didn’t help. however, once I got myself into it I managed to do things I never thought I’d be able to do. I created an Instagram page to keep me going, go check it out. I haven’t done yoga in a while, I don’t really have the space, time or motivation at the moment but in the new year I want to restart and as winter goes and summer comes round I’ll have the whole garden to use hehe. Do you have any ideas on how to keep motivated?

💻 Blog more – This has been a big achievement for me. At the start I never knew what to write about and sometimes my friends would give me ideas but I would sit at my laptop and spend most of my time typing and erasing and lets not even talk about writer’s block, such a pain in the bum! However, I have defiantly achieved this goal and I want to continue achieving it throughout 2018. 🍎 Be Healthier – Meep! I tried eating healthy and I succeeded most weeks but then I went back to my old ways and eating healthier only happened when I felt like it. As for being healthier taking up yoga was one of the best things I did and I need to find a way to continue it in 2018.

🎵👭 Teach Katie to Dance – This goal I achieved. No I didn’t teach Katie to dance the cha cha or tango, I don’t even know those myself. I love dancing, moving to the music and I managed to get Katie to dance with me in my random hyper moments and actually taught her some kizomba and basic salsa steps woop! This is an achievement as she’s doesn’t really like dancing and I love her for trying!
